Leatherwood is the single most important nectar plant in Tasmania accounting for about 70% of all honey produced. Unblended Leatherwood honey has a unique taste and smell which is quite different from blended honey.

It also contains chemical elements such as Sodium, Calcium, Potassium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Selenium, Copper, Iron, Manganese, Chromium and Zinc. Honey is composed of two main sugars, fructose and dextrose.
