Omega-6 can be sourced from a variety of different foods, such as eggs, avocados, nuts and many vegetable oils. Evening primrose oil, however, has the highest amount of Omega-6 of any food substance. Evening primrose oil is extracted from the seeds of the evening primrose plant (oenothera biennis). It is a valuable source of Omega-6 essential fatty acid (gramma-linolenic acid GLA). The seeds of the evening primrose plant yield between 7% and 10% GLA.
The body does not produce essential fatty acids, so it is necessary to obtain them through our diet, or through dietary supplements. Omega-6 is highly beneficial for cellular growth, supporting the maintenance of healthy skin and hair. It also assists in the relief of minor skin complaints, eczema and pre-menstrual symptoms.
Evening Primrose Oil contains:
- Essential Omega-6 fatty acids
- Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA)
